I was showing a property the other day and noticed the most amazing acorns on this oak tree. They were HUGE!
The ground was littered with them and I was imagining the work-out the little squirrels and chipmunks would have trying to get these stored away for the winter!!
I then wondered what the reason was for them being so large? And falling whilst still green? What's that all about??
The Farmer's Almanac tells us, in our area, to get ready for a very harsh winter; the abundance of acorns and pinecones is nature's way of looking out for the animals.
What are you seeing in your area?
Should we follow the squirrels example and get prepared for a long harsh winter?
I don't think it could hurt!
